Super Eagles captain, Joseph Yobo has sensationally spoken out that he won’t call the Chief Coach of the Nigeria national team, Stephen Keshi to reconcile with him.
Yobo disclosed this on Silverbird Television Sports programmed Sports Café in collaboration with The Nation and SportingLife newspapers which was aired live on Wednesday morning.’
The presenter of the programme, Jide Alabi and The Nation newspaper’s Sport Editor Ade Ojeikere had put a call to the Fenerbahce of Turkey defender asking him to call the Eagles Head Coach, Keshi to reconcile with him since the Nigeria Football Federation especialy as the Coach had also reconciled with his employers. They are now working together in the interest of Nigerian football.
But Yobo said that he has not offended Keshi in any way but it is the coach that has left him out of the team’s programme without duly informing him.
“I have no issue with anybody. I have no problem with the Coach (Stephen Keshi). I only spoke my mind as Joseph Yobo, as a (Super Eagles) player and a Captain. The Coach (Stephen Keshi) is entitled to his decisions. “He is the coach. He is the boss. Let us not take that (away) from him. He is the boss.
“From my own understanding I am still the Captain (of the Super Eagles) Nobody has called me to say I wasn’t the Captain any more. I don’t have any problem and it (not being included in the Eagles list of 30 to Germany camp) is not an issue.
“I am not going to make any telephone calls to anybody. One thing I guarantee Nigerians is that I am always going to be Super Eagles player. I am always going to support the players even if I am not playing for the team. They have my 100 per cent support and backing.
“Like you people are saying that I should put a phone call (across to Stephen Keshi) to reconcile with him, I don’t see this as a problem. I don’t see it as an issue that I have to call him for reconciliation.
“I was the one that was being left out (of the team to Germany camp) as a Captain without any information or any reason. I am still playing top flight football (for Fenerbahce in Turkey). I have no problem with him (Keshi). Those that have problems know why they have problems.
